GRE
The GRE (Graduate Record Examination) is a standardized test that evaluates a candidate’s readiness for graduate-level education. It assesses key skills in analytical writing, verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, and critical thinking, which are necessary for success in graduate programs.
GRE General Test Sections:
Analytical Writing:
This section measures the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and effectively. It includes
two tasks:
● Analyze an Issue task
● Analyze an Argument task
Students must construct and support a position while evaluating different viewpoints in a structured essay format.
Verbal Reasoning:
This section tests reading comprehension, critical reasoning, and vocabulary. It requires students to analyze and evaluate written material, synthesize information, and understand relationships between words and concepts.
Quantitative Reasoning:
This section measures the ability to understand, interpret, and analyze quantitative information. It covers basic arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and data analysis.
Critical Thinking:
Critical thinking is integrated into the above sections, especially in tasks like verbal reasoning and analytical writing, where test-takers must evaluate and synthesize information to form logical conclusions.

The GRE is designed, developed, and administered by the Educational Testing Service (ETS). It can be taken at designated test centers. GRE scores are valid for five years, allowing students ample time to apply to a variety of programs.
